Dental Implants Header

At a lot of practices near Columbia and along Broadway, implant care is split across two offices: one dentist places the implant, another restores it months later. Here’s how that typically compares to Dental West NYC.

Implant Options

A single missing tooth is usually replaced with one implant and a crown. Several teeth in a row can go on an implant-supported bridge instead of an implant per gap, sometimes described elsewhere as All-on-4 or All-on-X treatment for a full arch. Missing most of an arch calls for a fixed full-arch replacement or implant-supported dentures, which one depends on your bone volume and preference for fixed versus removable.

Bone volume also decides whether placement can happen right away or needs a preparatory step first. Thin bone in the upper jaw may call for a sinus lift, a resorbed ridge may need bone grafting, and significant bone loss in the upper arch is sometimes addressed with zygomatic implants anchored further back in facial bone. Dr. Walter evaluates all of this at the planning visit, before any placement date is set.

Our Process

  1. Consultation & planning. Dr. Walter examines the site and maps the implant type, position, and restoration before scheduling anything.
  2. Placement. The implant post is placed by Dr. Walter, following her own plan.
  3. Healing. The implant integrates with the bone over a period that varies by case.
  4. Final restoration. Dr. Walter fabricates and places the crown, bridge, or denture attachment herself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does insurance cover dental implants?

We’re out-of-network, but we prepare and submit your claim for reimbursement, and give you an itemized estimate first.

Will I be handed off between two offices?

No. Dr. Walter plans, places, and restores every implant herself.

Does bone loss rule out dental implants?

Not necessarily. Depending on how much bone has been lost, bone grafting, a sinus lift, or zygomatic implants can sometimes still make treatment possible. Dr. Walter can tell you whether your case qualifies after reviewing your imaging.

Are you accepting new patients from Morningside Heights?
