Dental Implants Header

Search for dental implants near Midtown West and most of what comes back is built around speed: walk-in hours, lunchtime appointments, a location close to Port Authority or the Theater District. Convenience has its place, but an implant is a small surgery followed by months of healing and a permanent restoration you’ll live with for years. The more useful questions aren’t about scheduling.

Four Questions Worth Asking Any Implant Dentist

1. Who Plans the Case, Who Places It, and Who Restores It?

At a lot of practices, that’s three different conversations with two different clinicians. At Dental West NYC, on Central Park West near Columbus Circle, it’s one person: Dr. Leora Walter, a surgically trained prosthodontist who plans, places, and restores every implant herself, with no hand-off mid-treatment.

2. Does the Plan Change Depending on How Many Teeth Are Missing?

Yes. One missing tooth generally calls for a single implant and a custom crown. Several teeth in a row can often be replaced with an implant-supported bridge rather than filling every gap individually. Missing most or all of an arch calls for a fixed full-arch replacement or implant-supported dentures, sometimes described elsewhere as All-on-4 or All-on-X treatment. At Dental West NYC, the plan is built around the number of implants and the bone your case actually needs, not a fixed brand or system name, and which option applies to you gets decided at a consultation, not assumed beforehand.

Bone loss changes the plan too. If there isn’t enough bone left where a tooth used to be, bone grafting can rebuild the site first, a sinus lift can create room in the upper back jaw, and zygomatic implants offer an anchoring option in the cheekbone when the upper jaw has lost significant bone. Dr. Walter reviews your imaging at the consultation and tells you which path, if any extra step is needed at all, fits your case.

3. Will You Actually Need New X-Rays Today?

Only if there’s a specific clinical reason, in line with the American Dental Association’s 2024 guidance. Imaging isn’t built into every new-patient visit regardless of need.

4. Will You See the Cost in Writing Before Anything Starts?

Dental West NYC is fee-for-service and out-of-network with every insurance plan, so every case gets a written, itemized estimate first, with no referrals required to get there. We prepare and submit the claim paperwork so you can pursue reimbursement afterward.

What Treatment Actually Involves

Once you and Dr. Walter agree on a plan, the implant post is placed under local anesthesia. Patients who feel anxious about the procedure can discuss sedation options with Dr. Walter at the consultation, since not every case calls for the same approach. The implant is then given a healing period, typically a few months, to integrate with the jawbone, then topped with the crown, bridge, or denture attachment she designed for it. The same clinician handles every stage, so nothing gets lost between a surgical note and a lab prescription written by someone who never met you.

What Affects the Price

There’s no single implant price because there’s no single case. What you’re quoted depends on how many teeth are being replaced, whether the site needs preparatory work first such as bone grafting or a sinus lift, whether you need a single crown, a bridge, or a full-arch restoration, and the materials used for the final piece. You’ll see all of it itemized before you decide, and we handle the claim paperwork for out-of-network reimbursement either way.

A Few More Things Midtown West Patients Ask

I’m only in the neighborhood for work. Can you still take my case?

Yes. We regularly treat patients who split time between Midtown and elsewhere. Bring whatever records or films you have, and we’ll pick up from there.

Is a temporary tooth possible the same day as placement?

In select cases, yes. Dr. Walter will tell you at your consultation whether your case is a candidate for a same-day temporary.

Does bone loss rule out dental implants?

Not necessarily. Depending on how much bone has been lost, bone grafting, a sinus lift, or zygomatic implants can sometimes still make implant treatment possible. Dr. Walter can tell you whether your case qualifies after reviewing your imaging.

Are you accepting new implant patients from Midtown West?

Yes. Patients from Midtown West regularly travel to our Central Park West office near Columbus Circle for implant consultations.
