Emergency Dental Care header 2

A dental emergency doesn’t wait for a convenient time. It happens between meetings, before a show, or in the middle of a workday in the 30s or 40s. Patients from Midtown West and Hell’s Kitchen make the short trip north to Central Park West near Columbus Circle for the same dentist who follows through on whatever the emergency actually requires.

From the Moment You Call to the Moment You Leave

You call
Describe what happened. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a same-day office visit or an ER situation, before you travel anywhere.
On your way
We’ll walk you through first-aid steps for your specific problem, whether that’s a knocked-out tooth, a broken filling, or swelling, so you’re not guessing.
At the office
Dr. Walter examines the area, takes imaging only if it’s clinically necessary, and gives you a written estimate before treating anything beyond stabilizing the immediate problem.
Afterward
We prepare and submit your claim paperwork for out-of-network reimbursement, and talk through next steps once you’re out of pain. Some emergencies need follow-up restorative work, such as a root canal or a new crown; if a tooth can’t be saved, we’ll walk you through replacement options, including dental implants.

Call Us, or Go Straight to the ER?

Call Us
For a toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost filling or crown, or localized swelling without fever.
Go to the ER First
For facial swelling with fever or trouble breathing or swallowing, a suspected jaw fracture, or bleeding that won’t stop with steady pressure.

If you’re not sure which applies, call us. We’d rather help you triage than have you guess wrong.

In Pain Right Now?

Call before you decide where to go. We won’t fight your insurance company for you, but we will give you a clear estimate and file the paperwork.

Can you see me the same day?

In many cases, yes. Call as soon as the issue comes up and we’ll do our best to fit you in.

Do you treat emergencies in children?

We can evaluate dental emergencies in children and advise you on next steps, including whether a pediatric specialist is the better fit.

Will you take x-rays for every emergency visit?

Only when clinically necessary to diagnose the problem, not automatically for every visit.

Is Dental West NYC accepting new emergency patients from Midtown West?

Yes. Midtown West and Hell’s Kitchen patients regularly call our Central Park West office near Columbus Circle for same-day evaluations.

What happens if a tooth can’t be saved?

We’ll walk you through restorative options in plain language, including a bridge or a dental implant, before you decide anything.
